The name of the company can be changed through the YTJ service. Below, we have explained in more detail how the change goes when you establish a new business name and when you already have an existing business ID.
When you establish a business name through our service:
In the UKKO service, the company name is established through the tax administration's registers, in which case the company is always registered under its own name. You cannot register a business name in the trade register through our service. However, you can easily update/change the name you want for your company in the ytj.fi service after you have received the business ID. When YTJ has processed your application, you will see the new name in the ytj.fi service. After this, you can report your company's new name to our customer service. We will then update your company name in your information.
When you register for our service with a valid business ID:
You can easily update an existing name by making a change notification in the YTJ service. When your application has been processed, please report your company's new name to our customer service so that we can update it with your information.
Good to know
To the YTJ.fi service The information you provide will be updated in the joint YTJ information service of PRH and the Tax Administration and in PRH's Virre information service after registration.
We do not recommend introducing a new name until the application has been processed. The name given by the company is not always accepted, but may have to be changed. So the name should not be printed on, for example, signs, advertisements and forms before it has been registered in the trade register.
Here you can find more information about choosing name options and designing a name.
