UKKO Private Trader prepares a business tax return (5) on your behalf
The tax return is included in your service fee.
When you have an active UKKO Private Trader account at the turn of the year, you do not have to worry about your company's tax return. We do it for you. In order for us to file a tax return, we need some additional information from you.
At the turn of the year, we will open a tax return inquiry to the UKKO service about future deductions for tax returns. The survey is open until 30th January. Fill in the questionnaire with the deductions you want for your business name tax return and we’ll take care of it from then on. You can answer the survey by logging in to our service. The query can be found in the initial view as soon as you log in. We will send you an email when the survey is open and can be answered.
If you have had business trips abroad during the financial year, please note that per diem allowances must be reported separately to our customer service. You can send this information by e-mail to our customer service asiakaspalvelu@ukkopro.fi. Please also complete the tax return inquiry for other deductions.
What deductions can be reported in the tax return inquiry?
In the tax return survey, we ask about workroom deductions, business travel expenses and daily allowances.
If you are not applying for any deductions
Even if you don’t apply for any deductions in your tax return, please still fill out a tax return inquiry and select that you don’t have any deductions.
Why did I receive two paper tax returns in the mail?
As an entrepreneur, you will receive in mail both your personal pre-filled tax return and the business tax return of your business name in paper form, and both must be taken care of in one way or another.
You do not have to worry about paper business tax return (form n. 5), as we fill in your business tax return online on your behalf.
However, you will need to check your personal pre-filled tax return yourself. The deadline for your personal tax return is the same for a private trader entrepreneur's personal taxes as it is for a business return.
Which deduction for which return?
If you are a part-time entrepreneur, you may be entitled to a home office deduction and a travel expense deduction also in your a personal tax return.
That is, if you have worked from home doing both your paid work and work related to your business, you can apply for a home office deduction on both personal and business tax return. The amount of the deduction depends on how many days you have worked from home.
If you have purchased furniture for your home office, such as an electric desk or office chair, you can also deduct these expenses in your taxes. Please note at this point that the same piece of furniture can only be declared with one tax return - the piece of furniture has only been purchased once! You can mark it on either your company tax return or your personal return.
Read the tax authority's instructions for reporting various deductions here.
The membership fees of the unemployment fund and trade union are always deducted in your personal tax return. Even if you work as a full-time entrepreneur and are a member of the Entrepreneur Fund, membership fees are expenses deductible for personal (not business) taxation.
How the process goes
1. Answer the tax return inquiry in our service no later than 30th January and at the same time report any foreign daily allowances to customer service separately
2. We will start processing tax returns once we receive responses to the inquiry
3. If necessary, we will ask you for more information when processing your tax return
4. We will notify you when we have filed your tax return and sent it to the tax authority
5. You will receive a letter from the taxpayer once they have processed your tax return
Why is the tax return inquiry closed so early as the tax return is due only 1st April?
We understand the hectic life of an entrepreneur. We wish to enable you to move on from your previous financial year and focus on the next one already in January. So, after you answer the inquiry you don't have to worry about last year anymore - just go on and do what you love!
Missing Suomi.fi authorization or unpaid service fees may prevent you from filling in your tax return
The preparation of a tax return is included in the price of the UKKO service. However, there are two cases that prevent us from filing your tax return.
The first is that you have not authorized us in the Suomi.fi service. In this case we will not have access to your tax return at all, as we are not authorized to. Here's how to accept our authorization request.
Another case is that you have unpaid service fees at the turn of the year. Usually, service fees are automatically charged to your debit or credit card, and if, for example, your card has expired or doesn't have enough balance, you will receive an email notifying you that the charge failed. At the turn of the year, it is important to take care of service charges immediately if the charge fails for any reason, so that your tax return is not missed as a result. If you have any questions about service fee charges, you can contact our customer service, for example by e-mail: asiakaspalvelu@ukkopro.fi.
